Definitions

With so many acronyms being used these days, sometimes it's difficult to know what people are taking about.  Here are some of the definitions that we think you should know.

Members in the Concord Auxiliary Radio Emergency Service (CARES) program are ham radio operators volunteering to assist the Police Department. The group meets monthly and conducts weekly drills to test their system.

Emergency Services Division (ESD or ESSU)

The Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services (OES) is responsible for Disaster preparedness & Response and recovery planning. In the event of an emergency or disaster, OES coordinates communications and resources among responding agencies, and facilitates cost-recovery coordination with state and federal agencies.
